Dr Simon Filson

Mr Simon Filson is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and clinical lead of the Paediatric Plastic Surgery Department at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital (St Thomas’). His patients’ safety, comfort and happiness are always the focus of his care.

After graduating with Merit from the Faculty of Medicine at Newcastle Upon Tyne University, Dr Filson trained surgically in the North East of England until 2011 when he moved to the renowned trauma centre, Rambam in Haifa, Israel. During his time in Israel, Mr Simon Filson performed various reconstructive surgeries of complex war injuries and burns from Syria, Israel and the Palestinian Territories and was responsible for training many international Plastic Surgery Trainees in Poly-trauma and complex burns.

As a result of his surgical work, patient care and junior doctor training in 2014, he was recognised with the prestigious excellence award, Oved Mitztayen. He completed a year fellowship providing comprehensive Paediatric Plastic Sugery Sub-specialisation at the SickKids Hospital, Toronto and after a microsurgical and breast reconstruction fellowship at Guy’s and St Thomas’. He has been a full-time NHS Consultant since 2018 and has led his busy department since 2022. In his NHS practice he has a particular interest in paediatric facial reconstruction, vascular malformations and upper limb/chest wall reconstruction. At Stratum Clinics he is a specialist in mole, cyst, skin tag removal and an expert in injectables for fine lines, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) and profhilo.
