Dr Suramya Keragala is a Consultant Dermatologist at Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Keragala brings over a decade of experience from two continents. She received her primary medical and specialist training in Sri Lanka and completed the final part of her specialist dermatology training in the UK, leading to her recognition as a specialist dermatologist in both countries.
Dr Keragala is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, an Associate member of the British Association of Dermatologists, a fellow of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, and a lifetime member of the Sri Lanka College of Dermatologists. She is also a Member of the European Pregnancy Dermatoses Taskforce, the prestigious St John’s Society of Dermatology, and the Dowling Club, UK.
Dr. Keragala presents at national and international conferences and actively contributes to clinical research. As the lead clinician for research and development for dermatology at Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Trust, she is the principal investigator of several clinical trials. Her commitment to advancing dermatology through research is a testament to her dedication to her field. She has authored several international publications in her speciality field in peer-reviewed journals and is currently a reviewer of the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology, Clinical Medicine Journal of the Royal College of Physicians and the Journal of Ceylon College of Physicians.
Dr Keragala’s clinical interests mainly focus on inflammatory skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, and eczema, diseases of the skin of colour, autoimmune connective tissue disorders, and skin cancers. Her expertise in these areas ensures comprehensive care for her patients.
She also performs dermatology surgery and enjoys managing acute medical dermatological cases.
She has a passion for teaching and is currently an educational supervisor for dermatology specialist trainees and GP trainees in the UK.
