Podiatry services and treatments

During your consultation, our experienced podiatrists examine your skin and nails to identify any issues or concerns. Our goal is to provide personalised recommendations and treatment plans tailored to address your specific needs.
MSK Initial Consult refers to an initial consultation focused on musculoskeletal (MSK) issues. This type of consultation typically involves assessing and diagnosing problems related to the muscles, bones, joints, ligaments and tendons throughout the body, particularly in the context of foot and ankle health.
This approach involves careful trimming and shaping of nails, gentle removal of calluses and corns, and thorough exfoliation to promote healthy skin. Additionally, Medical Pedicures may include targeted therapies for specific foot conditions such as fungal infections or ingrown toenails.
Orthotics/Gait Analysis is a specialised service offered to assess and address issues related to the biomechanics of walking and running. During this process, a trained podiatrist conducts a thorough analysis of your gait or the way you walk or run. This analysis often involves observing your foot movements, assessing your posture and analysing the distribution of pressure and weight as you move.
Cryotherapy is commonly used to address issues such as verrucas (warts) and skin tags on the feet. During cryotherapy treatment, liquid nitrogen or another freezing agent is applied to the affected area, causing the targeted tissue to freeze and ultimately be destroyed.
Falknor Needling is a specialised procedure used to treat stubborn verrucas (warts) on the feet. Falknor Needling involves puncturing the verruca with a fine needle, effectively disrupting the lesion and stimulating the body’s immune response to attack the virus causing the wart.
Nail Surgery is a medical procedure performed to address various nail conditions that may cause discomfort or pose a risk to foot health. Common reasons for nail surgery include ingrown nails, thickened nails, curved nails and nail infections. During the procedure, the affected portion of the nail is carefully removed or modified to alleviate pain, prevent further complications and promote healthy nail growth.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

A podiatrist is a specialised healthcare professional focused on diagnosing, treating and preventing conditions related to the feet, ankles and lower limbs. They provide comprehensive care for a wide range of issues, including injuries, chronic conditions, skin and nail problems, biomechanical issues and surgical interventions when necessary. Through their expertise and interventions, podiatrists help individuals maintain optimal foot health, mobility and overall well-being.
Fungal nail infections, also known as onychomycosis, are typically caused by microscopic organisms called fungi. These fungi thrive in warm, moist environments, making areas like locker rooms, swimming pools and showers common sources of infection. Other risk factors for fungal nail infections include wearing tight-fitting shoes, having poor circulation, having a weakened immune system or sustaining a nail injury. Additionally, individuals who frequently expose their feet to moisture or have underlying medical conditions like diabetes are more susceptible to developing fungal nail infections.
Treating a fungal nail infection typically involves a combination of topical and oral antifungal medications, along with proper foot care practices. Topical treatments, such as antifungal nail lacquers or creams are applied directly to the affected nails to target the fungus. Oral antifungal medications may also be prescribed by a healthcare professional to treat more severe infections or cases that do not respond to topical treatments alone. Additionally, practicing good foot hygiene, keeping the feet clean and dry, wearing breathable socks and shoes, and avoiding walking barefoot in public areas can help prevent the spread and recurrence of fungal nail infections.
Yes, conservative measures can often help manage bunions without surgery, including wearing supportive footwear, using orthotic inserts and practicing physical therapy exercises. While these treatments can alleviate symptoms and slow the progression of the bunion, they may not fully correct the underlying deformity. In cases of severe or persistent bunions, surgical intervention may be necessary to address the structural issues and provide long-term relief.
